இலங்கைக்கு கனடா அரசாங்கத்தின் 1 மில்லியன் கனேடிய டொலர் நிவாரண உதவி – கனேடியத் தமிழ் காங்கிரஸின் வரவேற்பு
ஒட்டாவா – இலங்கையில் வெள்ளத்தால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட மக்களுக்கு உதவுவதற்காக, கனடா அரசாங்கம் 1 மில்லியன் கனேடிய டொலர் (CAD 1 Million) மனிதாபிமான உதவியை அறிவித்துள்ளதை கனேடியத் தமிழ் காங்கிரஸ் (CTC) வரவேற்றுள்ளது.
வெள்ளத்தால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட சமூகங்களுக்கு ஆதரவளிக்கும் நோக்கில் இந்த நிதியுதவியை அறிவித்த கனடா அரசாங்கத்திற்கு CTC தனது நன்றியைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொண்டுள்ளது.
நிதி வழங்க வேண்டிய அவசரப் பகுதிகள்:
சமீபத்திய வெள்ளத்தால் கடுமையாகப் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட சமூகங்களுக்கு உடனடி நிவாரணம் வழங்க இந்தச் சரியான நேரத்திலான நிதி மிகவும் இன்றியமையாதது.
குறிப்பாக, போரினாலும் வறுமையினாலும் ஏற்கனவே பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ள வடக்கு, கிழக்கு மற்றும் மலையகப் பகுதிகளுக்கு இந்த நிதி உதவியை தாமதமின்றி முன்னுரிமை அடிப்படையில் வழங்குமாறு CTC வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளது.
மேலதிக தேவைக்கான அழைப்பு:
இந்த ஆரம்ப பங்களிப்பு ஒரு முக்கியமான முதல் படி என்றாலும், அனர்த்தத்தின் பாரிய அளவு காரணமாக, வரும் வாரங்கள் மற்றும் மாதங்களில் இன்னும் அதிக நிதி தேவைப்படும் என்று CTC குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளது. சேதங்கள் கணிசமானவை என்பதால், நாடு முழுவதும் அதிகரித்து வரும் மனிதாபிமான மற்றும் மீட்புத் தேவைகளைப் பூர்த்தி செய்யக் கூடுதல் நிதியுதவிகள் அத்தியாவசியமாகின்றன.
நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர்களுக்கு நன்றி:
கடந்த நாட்களில் CTC சந்தித்த கனேடிய நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர்களுக்கும் இந்த அறிக்கையில் நன்றி தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. அவர்களின் ஆதரவும் அர்ப்பணிப்புமே இந்த நிதியைச் சாத்தியமாக்கியுள்ளது என்று CTC பாராட்டியதுடன், பாதிக்கப்பட்ட சமூகங்களுக்கு நிவாரணம் வழங்குவதற்கான இந்த முக்கிய முதல் படி எடுத்தமைக்காக அவர்களின் தலைமைத்துவத்தைப் பாராட்டியுள்ளது.
இந்த உதவி தேவைப்படுபவர்களைச் சென்றடைவதையும், நிலைமைக்கு ஏற்ப மேலதிக உதவிகளைத் திரட்டுவதையும் உறுதி செய்ய, கனடா அரசாங்கம், உள்ளூர் அதிகாரிகள் மற்றும் சமூகப் பங்காளிகளுடன் தொடர்ந்து இணைந்து பணியாற்றுவதில் CTC உறுதியுடன் உள்ளது.

CAD 1 Million for Flood Relief in Sri Lanka
The CTC expresses its gratitude to the Government of Canada for announcing CAD 1 million in humanitarian assistance intended to support flood affected communities in Sri Lanka.
This timely funding is critical for providing immediate relief to communities severely impacted by recent floods, particularly in the North, East and Hill Country regions that have already been vulnerable by war and poverty. CTC calls for the funds to be directed to these priority regions without delay, ensuring that the most affected receive urgent support.
While this contribution marks an important first step, the scale of the disaster means that much more will be needed in the coming weeks and months. The damages are substantial, and additional funding and resources will be essential to meet the growing humanitarian and recovery needs across the country.
CTC also thanks the members of the Canadian Parliament whom we met with during the past days. Their advocacy and commitment have helped bring this funding to fruition. We commend their leadership in taking the first vital steps toward relief for affected communities.
CTC remains committed to working alongside the Government of Canada, local authorities, and community partners to ensure that this support reaches those who need it most, and to mobilize further aid as the situation evolves.
